A free site visit first

Do you cover factories in SiLC, Nusajaya Tech Park and the Port of Tanjung Pelepas Free Zone?
Yes. We work across Iskandar Puteri, including the SiLC industrial area, Nusajaya Tech Park, Nusa Cemerlang, Medini, Gelang Patah, Tanjung Kupang and the PTP Free Zone. The first site visit is free, and we give a quotation after it, because the scope depends on what is actually on site.
Our warehouse is in the PTP Free Zone. Do DOSH, Bomba and DOE rules still apply?
Yes. Free zone status concerns customs and duties; it does not take a workplace outside the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, the Fire Services Act 1988 or the Environmental Quality Act 1974. A free-zone warehouse still needs a risk assessment, competent persons where the law calls for them, a valid fire certificate where the premises are designated, and proper scheduled waste handling.
Do the forklifts in our warehouse need a Certificate of Fitness?
No. Forklifts are carved out of the Certificate of Fitness requirement, which is a common point of confusion. Cranes, hoists, boilers and unfired pressure vessels such as air receivers are still subject to registration and CF. Forklift operation still has to be covered by your HIRARC, safe work procedures and operator training.
We handle solvents, paints or thinners. What should we have in place?
At minimum, a current chemical register and safety data sheets, a Chemical Health Risk Assessment under USECHH 2000 conducted by a DOSH-registered assessor, scheduled waste stored, labelled and recorded in eSWIS, and fire precautions that reflect the flammable inventory.
Which authorities will a factory in Iskandar Puteri deal with?
Occupational safety and health matters, including machinery registration and CF, go to DOSH (JKKP) Johor. Scheduled waste, air emissions and effluent fall under the Department of Environment (JAS) Johor. Fire certificates and fire safety fall under Bomba.
